Hearing Clinic
As we get older, our health
often starts to deteriorate and we may find ourselves unable to easily
leave our homes. Hearing loss is a natural phenomenon which normally
happens so gradually, you are often not even aware of it. You only realise
when you are always turning up the television or asking friends to repeat
themselves. Several factors can contribute to hearing loss such as:
- Middle ear problems
- Noise exposure
- Inner ear deterioration
- Nerve damage or deterioration
- Ageing
- Damage to the ear drum
- Blockage of the ear canal
However,
many of these problems can be easily corrected and the first step is
by having a free hearing check. Our hearing service offers the best
in hearing aids including the latest in remote control, programmable
and digital aids from all the leading manufacturers. Types of aid available
include:
'Invisible'
or completely in the Canal - CIC: The very smallest of the in the ear
hearing aids, designed to be worn entirely in the canal and is truly
unobtrusive and almost invisible.
'Almost
Invisible' or In the Canal - ITC: A discreet device that fits almost
entirely in the ear canal. Although small in size it still maintains
the user operated volume control.
'Semi
Visible' or Half Shell: Utilising the lower, bowl part of the ear. The
half shell gives improved cosmetic appearance while retaining the flexibility
of the larger full shell.
Full
Shell: The classic in the ear hearing aid, giving the greatest flexibility
of fitting. The size of the instrument makes for easier insertion and
adjustment for those with limited dexterity.
Behind
the Ear (BTE) Hearing Aids: Very much the traditional type of hearing
aid. However, the latest types of this aid are some of the most technologically
advanced you can buy and fit discreetly behind the ear.
We
also offer the benefits of half yearly aftercare where your hearing
aid is cleaned and checked - completely free of charge.
